Marilyn Gottlieb
Marilyn Gottlieb started her writing career as a columnist in Dan’s Papers on Long Island, New York. Since 1993 she has been president of The Crescendo Group, a small full-service communications firm working with both clients and ad agencies.
Before starting her company, Ms. Gottlieb spent nine years as senior vice president, director of public relations for Lintas, a $1.8 billion worldwide advertising agency that was part of The Interpublic Group of Companies. She also served on the Agency’s 17-person Operations Committee.
As head of their Public Relations Department, she was responsible for all external and internal communications, press relations, and special events. Clients included diet Coke, IBM, Cover Girl, Molson Beer, Lipton Tea, Lego and Snuggle Fabric softener, among others. Before that, she was public relations manager for Ogilvy & Mather, NY and director of public relations for the American Association of Advertising Agencies.
Ms. Gottlieb also has worked for New York Medical College, writing speeches, medical magazine articles, a textbook chapter, and grant proposals and for the New York City Bicentennial Corporation where she handled major special events and produced a radio show. Adept in various writing styles, she has published speeches, a children’s story, a weekly comedy column, and numerous articles.
Ms. Gottlieb was an adjunct professor at the New School University where she taught a three-credit course for 18 years. She has served on the board of Advertising Women of New York and is a member of the YWCA’s prestigious Academy of Women Achievers, New York’s largest and most visible tribute to professional and managerial women. She is listed in Who’s Who in America.
She attended Skidmore College for two years and went on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from New York University. In 2012 she earned an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Stony Brook Southampton.
